Stop Signs
Tips for stop signs when driving
When you approach a 'Stop' sign and 'Stop' line (single unbroken line), you must come to a complete stop. You must stop before the line, and as close as possible to the line (within 1 metre) with no part of your car, including the bull-bar, crossing the line.
There is NO requirement to STOP for 3 seconds …… just STOP completely, pause, then you may cross the line to get a better appreciation of any conflicting traffic or proceed if there are no conflictions.
If there's a 'Stop' sign but no line at an intersection, you must stop before, and as close as possible, to the intersection.
If there is a queue at the STOP sign & you have already stopped back in the queue, you must still come to a complete STOP again when your car reaches the STOP line.
Push bikes have the same rights on the road as cars & at a STOP sign you must give way to them if there is a conflict.
